WORK on the Chieveley interchange on the M4 has been successfully completed ahead of schedule.

The planned weekend closures in August of the roundabout below the M4 and A34 have been cancelled.

Highways England Delivery Manager, Steve Cobb, said: “It is great news for local residents and businesses in the Chieveley area and for everyone who uses this busy interchange that these closures have been lifted earlier than scheduled. The work will also ensure that the interchange remains safe and serviceable for years to come.”

The £14m scheme involved undertaking three essential bridge maintenance schemes to the M4 Welford Viaduct (between junctions 13 and 14) and the M4 Junction 13 Chieveley interchange structures.

The remaining construction to complete this scheme will be done using the current narrow lanes on the M4 and overnight lane closures on the M4 and junction 13 roundabout.
