A FORMER Councillor's intimidatory behaviour has breached Newbury Town Council's Code of Conduct.

Mr Ruwan Uduwerage-Perera was found by West Berkshire Council's Governanance and Ethics Committee to have breached the town council's code of conduct by failing to treat others with respect and behaving in an intimidatory and/or bulling manner.

Cllr David Goff, leader of Newbury Town Council, welcomed the district council's findings.

He said: “The Committee has vindicated the actions of the Town Council who dealt with the complaint promptly, robustly and in accordance with the Council’s legal advice.

"The Council’s actions in responding to these disruptive events in 2014 have now been thoroughly considered, both by an employment tribunal judge and by the Committee at West Berkshire Council and we have been vindicated at all times. This decision is the conclusion of these matters.”
