A MAN was pushed to the ground in an attempted robbery in Newbury yesterday evening.
A 29-year-old man was walking through an alleyway out of City Recreation Ground towards Buckingham Road, Newbury, at around 7:45pm.
He was pushed to the ground, and as he tried to stand up a man demanded he hand over his iPod.
In self defence the victim punched the offender and managed to run off.
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said that nothing was stolen in the incident.
The offender is white, aged in either his late twenties or early thirties, stocky, with short dark hair.
He was wearing a dark coloured Puffa jacket and dark tracksuit-like trousers.
