A MAN has been jailed for five years after he was found carrying a stun gun while driving through Newbury.
James Green was stopped as he drove through Cambridge Road, Newbury, on December 16 last year, after police found a stun gun disguised as a torch in his vehicle.
The 28-year-old was arrested at the scene and charged on February 19 this year with one count of possession of a prohibited weapon, one count of possession of a firearm when prohibited for five years and one count of careless driving.
PC Nigel Woodall said: "Possession of firearms is a serious offence which was made worse due to the weapon being disguised as something else."
Green of Morley Place, Hungerford, admitted the charges at Reading Crown Court on Friday 24 and was sentenced to five years' imprisonment.
