FIREFIGHTERS spent the night battling a blaze after a bales of hay burst into flames near Farnborough in the early hours of this morning.

The alarm was raised at around 3.30am and crews from Newbury rushed to the field between Farnborough and West Ilsley to find that 600 tonnes of hay had gone up in flames.

Police were alerted at around 4am and are investigating the incident as a suspected arson whilst firefighters keep the blaze from spreading out of control. Crews are still on the scene this morning.
