IN a mixed week for West Berks, the men’s team won 3½ to 1½ at home against Naunton Downs to earn a place in Round 4 of the Mail on Sunday KO Cup and beat Badgemore Park 4½ to 2½ away in the first round of the Hillman Trophy.

Meanwhile, the seniors failed to retain the M4 Seniors Winter League championship when they suffered a 4-0 defeat away to Castle Royle in the semi-final.

In the club’s friendly fixtures the men’s team earned a 3-3 half at Sandford Springs while the seniors continued their good form winning 6-2 at home to Wrag Barn.

Martyn Drewitt won the men’s Easter stableford with 40 points, Giles Feltham was second with 38 and Clifford Westley third on 34 while the midweek stableford was won by Tony White with 36 points. Ian Saunders with 33 points beat Mike Sparvell on count-back to claim second place.

Simon Clifford’s 33 points won the Saturday stableford, Simon Barrie was second three points adrift beating Luke Prestoe on count-back.
