IN A busy week, West Berks beat Shrivenham 6-1 in Division One of the Central Sevens Golf League on Saturday, while a 2-1 home victory against Banbury the next day won a place in the quarter-finals of the league knock-out competition where they will meet Bicester.
Meanwhile, the Vets recorded their first ever victory at Bicester when they won 3½-2½, the seniors drew 3-3 away to Marlborough and the men’s team lost away 3½-1½ to Goring and Streatley.
Stuart Harrison won Division One of the June medal with a nett 70 while Patrick Wilmore with 73 beat Mark Charlton into second place on count-back.
Peter Dye scored nett 72 to win Division Two by one shot from Nick Bishop with Shaun Ponsford third with 78 while Garry Dixon shot a nett 75 to win Division Three.
Darren Galbraith was second with 76 beating Chris Terrett on count-back.
Joshua March won the Saturday stableford with 39 points, Roger Hunt was second on 37 and Galbraith a further shot behind third.
In the ladies’ section, Tina Mulford won the Saturday medal with a nett 76, Ann Davies was two shots behind in second place beating Sandy Miller on count-back while Sandy Miller won the ladies midweek stableford with Shelagh Forder second and Ola Adams third.
