Thatcham CC A MAGNIFICENT century from Thatcham all-rounder Josh Winfield nearly fired his side to an unlikely win over local rivals Falkland at Brownsfield on Saturday, but the visitors emerged victorious by 14 runs.

James Bloodworth (55) and Ben Piper (78) helped Falkland to 207-7 from 45 overs.

Scott Gibson (3-32) and Josh O’Flynn (2-33) were the pick of the Thatcham attack.

Thatcham recovered from 18-4 in reply to reach 193 all out thanks to Winfield’s tremendous 123 which included ten 6s and ten 4s before he was dismissed by Daminda Kolugala (2-25). Jason Williams led the Falkland attack with 4-32 while Bruce Martin took 3-19.

Thatcham open their Thames Valley Division Two account this Saturday with a trip to Cove 2.
