1:15pm Grade Three Betfair Handicap Hurdle
ZARKANDAR, the 11-4 favourite in an ultra competitive Betfair Hurdle, stayed on well up the home straight to beat former winner Get Me Out Of Here and enhance his claims toward the Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in May.
Get Me Out Of Here, a 14-1 shot, also ran on well to take second despite being hampered by Nicky Henderson's Darlan at the second last. Horse and rider (AP McCoy) got up to their feet okay.
Ladbroke Hurdle winner Raya Star finished third at 12-1 and Sire De Grugy took fourth at 14-1.
12:40pm Grade Two Denman Chase
NICKY Henderson records his second 1-2 of the afternoon as riegning Gold Cup heorine Long Run narrowly sees off stablemate Burton Port.
The 4-7 favourite jumped better than he has done in two previous defeats this season to get the win he needed to breed confidencein connections ahead of his Gold Cup defence in March.
Burton Port, a 15-2 chance today, produced an encouraging run to finish second despite being off the race course for over 400 days and looks to have booked his place in the Festivals blue-ribboned event.
12:10pm Grade Two Game Spirit Chase
LAMBOURN based Nicky Henderson gets off to the perfect start during Newbury's super Cheltenham trials day as star novice Sprinter Sacre leads home a Henderson 1-2 from French Opera.
The 2-5 favourite cruised to a comfortable victory over 16-1 shot and last season's winner French Opera to earn quotes of 6-4 for the Arkle Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in March.
