Having already staged Black Coffee at the Thames Street theatre earlier this year, this time around the Agatha Christie Theatre Company will be solving a trio of crimes — performing three of the Queen of crime’s radio plays: The Yellow Iris, Personal Call and Butter In A Lordly Dish.

Audiences can take a trip back in time and cosy into the Thirties world of BBC radio as a respected cast perform the three gripping thrillers in Murder On Air.

Some of the special guest stars include Noel Coward favourite Jenny Seagrove, who can make the grand claim of having played the lead in almost every West End playhouse.

Alongside her theatre credits in Brief Encounter, Volcano and The Country Girl, she is also well-known for her role as barrister Jo Mills in award-winning Judge John Deed.

The actress will be joined by Oscar-nominated Tom Conti, who is fresh from a West End run in Reginald Rose’s Twelve Angry Men.

Most recently, Conti can add another award (he has an Olivier Award and a Tony Award) to his impressive theatrical CV, having been jointly voted the most popular actors in the West End in the last 25 years alongside Dame Judi Dench by the Theatregoers’ Choice Awards.

Adding to the authenticity of the radio setting with live sound effects, the end product should be a convincing production where the audience will be transported back to a snug Thirties abode, able to sit back and enjoy the nostalgia on offer.

Murder On Air will be at Theatre Royal Windsor until Saturday, August 23. Performances are at 8pm Monday to Saturday, with additional shows at 2.30pm on Thursday and 4.45pm on Saturday.
