THE humorous tale of a trio’s trip down the Thames is coming to the stage once more as the original book celebrates its 125th anniversary.

Jerome K Jerome’s Three Men in a Boat follows the journey of city friends J, Harris and George as they travel from Kingston to Oxford and this latest stage production builds on a sell out run in 2012.

Held at South Hill Park’s Wilde Theatre this retelling of a story described as a quintessentially British classic promises a working pub, live piano accompaniment, music hall singing and physical comedy.

Alastair Whatley, director of the Original Theatre Company, said: “Jerome K Jerome has been accused of writing the funniest book of all time. Now, 125 years later, it still has the power to make people laugh uncontrollably in public places. Craig Gilbert’s adaptation also manages to make people laugh uncontrollably, but in the safety of a theatre.”

The two-day run of the show starts on October 27 at 7.30pm and tickets for general admission are £16, concession £15, members £14, schools £9, and dinner theatre £32. Contact the box office on 01344 484123 or visit www.southhillpark.org.uk
