LAST year's women's world number one for bobsleigh is calling on her community to help her fund her trip to compete in the Youth Olympic Games.

Annabel Chaffey, from Newbury, is calling on residents to help her raise £1,500 for her trip to the Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer as part of the Great British Youth Bobsleigh Team.

The 17-year-old has set up a GoFundMe fundraising page which has already raised £1,025 in 17 days.

Annabel said: “I am so grateful to everyone who has donated so far, I can’t believe I have almost reached my target in just over two weeks. Bobsleigh is my passion and I really hope my GoFundMe page will help me to fulfil my dream of competing at the Youth Olympic Games 2016."

Last year Annabel was selected to compete in the 2014/2015 season and raced in three international monobob races in Lillehammer, Konigssee and St Moritz, which resulted in her being ranked as the Women's World Number One.

The money raised from the GoFundMe page will go towards Annabel's travel expenses and kit.

Kelsea Little, media director at GoFundMe.com said: "“Annabel is just one of thousands of campaign organizers across the UK who trust GoFundMe to help them raise money for the things that matter to them most. It is amazing to see that over £1000 has been raised in such a short amount of time and we wish Annabel and her team all the luck in their Olympic races."
