INVESTIGATIONS are underway after a car was set on fire in a suspected arson attack in Newbury.
A Citroen saxo was up in flames by the time firefighters attened the scene at Equine Way, Greenham, at around 7am this morning.
Watch manager, Ian Whatley, from Newbury fire station, said: "We do not know what started the fire, but by the time we got there the car was fully alight and is not salvageable at all.
"The house of the end of the street had called us down there after seeing the car alight.
"We hosed it down and made sure that none of the other cars down the street had caught fire."
Hannah Jones, a spokesperson for Thames Valley Police, said: "We were called shortly before 7am to reports of a car on fire.
"We are investigating the cause as suspected arson."
