AN ARMED robber fled a bookies in Newbury empty handed after staff raised the alarm.
Police say a man man in his 30s entered the Ladbrokes store on London Road and threatened staff with a firearm at around 5pm on Thursday, January 28.
Staff raised the alarm and the man, wearing a cap, a black scarf, gloves and thigh-length jacket and light blue jeans, fled the scene empty handed.
No one was injured during the bungled robbery.
Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Gareth Perry said: "I would ask that anyone who was in the area yesterday evening and saw anything suspicious call TVP on 101.
"This was a frightening experience for staff and customers. If anyone has concerns please speak to your local Neighbourhood Policing Team."
The man is described as having a medium build and is around 5ft 8ins tall.
