JANE Brackenbury of West Berks Golf Club won through to the quarter finals of the Berkshire Ladies County Association Championship held at Castle Royle.
Taking her place in the finals thanks to a top-16 finish in the Tegner Trophy, nine-handicapper Bracknebury beat Jane Sly of Mill Ride, Ascot in the last 16 before bowing out in the last eight to Emily Shaw of Castle Royle, who was the eventual runner-up to champion Laura Webb of East Berks.

The men’s senior team lost 5½-½ at Sand Martins but made amends with a fine 4½-1½ win at Weybrook Park.
The ladies lost away 3-1 to Donnington Grove and in a close encounter Jan Francis and Georgie Seaman lost on the second extra hole to a pair from North Oxford to go out of the second round of the Daily Mail Foursomes.
