FALKLAND secured back-to-back Thames Valley League Division One victories with a four-wicket success at Marlow, writes Richard Ashton.
Imran Nawaz (44) was the only member of the hosts’ top six to make double figures as they crashed to 99-7 in the face of some fine spin bowling from Daminda Kologula (3-18) and Saranga Rajaguru (2-44).
Ben Peel (44) and Paul Brzezicki (37) salvaged the innings with an eighth-wicket stand of 86, but Paul Jenkins (3-29) returned to ensure Marlow were dismissed for 187.
Falkland were reduced to 46-3 in reply, but useful contributions from James Bird (34), Kologula (38) and Ben Piper (30no) took them to victory.
Falkland host rock bottom Windsor on Saturday (11am).
Thatcham Town slipped to a disappointing four-wicket reverse at High Wycombe 2nds in Division 2b.
Peter Spriggs (55), Duncan Johnson (48) and Scott Gibson (39) were the main contributors in the visitors’ total of 189-8.
That looked like it could be enough when Chris Bird (3-51) and John Williams (2-64) reduced Wycombe to 34-3, but they turned things around and got home with 19 balls to spare.
Thatcham are at home to Chiswick & Whitton this Saturday (1pm).
Josh Harris made 72 for Newbury (161) but they were beaten by four wickets at Reading 2nds in Division 3a, despite Kevin Mills (3-44) and Charlie Anstey (3-71) bowling well.
